Step One

Foundation Paper Piecing Supplies
To start your Foundation Paper Piecing project, gather these supplies.  1.  Foundation paper piecing pattern.  2. Colored pencils  3.  Fabric scraps  4. Glue Stick  5.  3 x 5 card  7.  Rotary Cutter  8.  Rotary cutting mat  9.  Ruler  10.  Mini iron (convenient but not essential)  11.  Scissors
Step Two

Foundation Paper Piecing Step 2
Step 2  With colored pencils, color in the areas for the different colored fabrics you will be using.  This keeps you from picking up the wrong color of fabric.  Does this sound like I speak from experience?  :o)
Step Three

Foundation Paper Piecing step 3
Step 3:  Cut a piece of fabric that is longer and wider than Number 1 on your Foundation Paper.

Step Four

Foundation Paper Piecing Step 4
Step 4:  Apply a "small" amount of glue to the back of the fabric.  This will allow your fabric to keep from shifting while you add fabric piece #2 to it.  Apply glue to fabric piece #1 only.  You don't need to do this with any of the other pieces.
Step Five

Foundation Paper Piecing Step 5
Place the fabric for piece #1 on the UNMARKED side of the Foundation paper pattern.  Make sure the fabric covers the whole #1 area.  It is much better to have enough than too little.  What I am trying to say is.... DON'T SKIMP!  :o)
Step Six

Foundation Paper Piecing Step 6
Step 6:  Take the 3 x 5 card and place it on the line between #1 and #2 on the FRONT side of your Paper Piecing diagram.  Fold along that line using the 3 x 5 card to make the fold exact.  Cool, huh?
